- Background
Culture and Development East Africa (CDEA) is committed to promoting gender equality, safeguarding and inclusion across all its programmes and operations. To strengthen our efforts and ensure that our interventions are effective and inclusive, we seek to engage a qualified consultant to provide expertise in gender, safe guarding and inclusion for a period of two months.
- Objective
The primary objective of this consultancy is to enhance CDEA’s capacity to integrate gender, safeguarding, and inclusion considerations into our programme and project cycle. The consultant will support the organization in developing a gender equality safeguarding and inclusion , as well as providing training to the staff on the policy.
- Scope
The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
3.1 Assessment and Analysis
- Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current gender, safeguarding and inclusion practices within the organization
- Analyze existing policies, programmes, and activities to identify gaps and areas for improvement.
- Provide a detailed report and plan with recommendations that she/he will put in motion for enhancing gender, safeguarding and inclusion.
3.2 Policy Development
- Develop a gender, safeguarding and inclusion policy aligned with the organization’s mission and vision.
- Create actionable plans and frameworks to operationalize the policy across various departments and projects.
3.3 Capacity Building
- Design and deliver two training sessions for staff on gender, safeguarding and inclusion.
- Develop training materials and resources tailored to the needs of the organization.
- Mentor and support staff in applying gender, safeguarding and inclusion principles in their work.
- Deliverables
The consultant is expected to produce the following deliverables:
- Inception Report detailing the methodology and work plan
- Assessment Report with findings and recommendations
- Gender, safeguarding and Inclusion policy document
- Training materials and resources
- Policy and guideline documents
- Two training session held with staff
- Final report summarizing achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
- Duration
The consultancy will deliver the assignment within two months after signing the contract .
- Consultant’s Qualifications and Experience
The ideal consultant should have the following qualifications and experience:
- Advanced degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, International Development, or related field.
- Substantive professional experience in gender, safeguarding and inclusion work, preferably in the media, arts and culture context.
- Proven experience in strategy development, policy formulation, and capacity building.
- Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Knowledge of international standards and best practices related to gender, safeguarding, and inclusion.
- Language requirement: Fluent English and Kiswahili proficiency.
